Departmental History

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at ACE Engineering College was established with the aim of producing skilled engineers to meet the growing industry demands. The current intake for the Bachelor of Technology course is 60 students per year.

Historical Milestones

The history of electrical engineering dates back to ancient times, with significant milestones over the centuries:
  • 1600: William Gilbert designed the Versorium, a device to detect static charges, and coined the term “Electricus.”
  • 1752: Benjamin Franklin demonstrated that lightning was electrical by flying a kite.
  • 1785: Charles-Augustin de Coulomb formulated Coulomb’s law.
  • 1800: Alessandro Volta invented the battery.
  • 1820: Hans Christian Ørsted discovered that an electric field creates a magnetic field; André-Marie Ampère published Ampere’s law.
  • 1827: Georg Ohm introduced electrical resistance and published Ohm’s Law.
  • 1831: Michael Faraday published the Laws of Electromagnetic Induction.
  • 1879: Thomas Edison patented the first practical incandescent light bulb.
  • 1888: Nikola Tesla developed the induction motor.
  • 1947: John Bardeen, Walter Houser Brattain, and William Shockley invented the transistor.
  • 1962: Nick Holonyak invented the LED.
  • 2008: Tesla released the Roadster, the first highway-legal electric vehicle with a lithium-ion battery.
